About Me

Hello my name is April, and yes I am a fitness instructor. I’m also a SAHM with four beautiful girls and a girl dog. We are a military family too. My husband is in the Army and we have four years left til retirement. Wooohooo I can’t wait! Moving around every four years sucks…

As a fitness instructor, I love to help people find there fitness passion. Two years ago I started working out and one day went to a Zumba class at the Y. I fell in love. I wanted more, but they only had it two days a week and on one of the days I couldn’t make it. I was so bummed. I needed to move, I need Zumba. So I went on the  and looked up how to get trained. And all of the sudden, I was signing up. I signed up for a one day workshop eight hours away. WOW!!! That night I told my husband what I had done. He was like, “if your going to do this and we have to drive eight hours and get a hotel, you are going to make the money back and stick to this Zumba stuff, OK”! So the day came and I got certified. Then I started to look for a job. I got hired at a little studio down the street and started out teaching two classes a week with only five people in class, and now I teach eleven classes a week with twenty five people in class at the little studio and forty five people in my class at the Y and about twenty ladies at three different Curves. Yes you guessed it, I work at the Y now teaching the very same thing that got me started. I love teaching.

I am also a certified group fitness instructor through . I love teaching group fitness classes. I think group classes are the way to go to staying motivated. I tell people every day to find what they love and stick to it. I have ladies who have, like clock work, come to every class and they have lost so much weight. One lady lost 19 lbs just coming to my classes. WOW!!! I also have ladies who have told me that I have changed their life’s and they feel so happy and healthy. I love to see the smiles on people’s faces when class is over. That is how I know they enjoyed themselves. I’m also  a Beachbody Coach at Beachbody. You can visit my site  to learn more about the club.
Two months ago I started working at Curves do . What fun!!! If you are not sure about a big class and think you can’t dance, well give Curves a shot. It is a 30 min workout with one minute intervals. One min. of Zumba steps and one min. of a strength machine. It is easy and fun. You get your cardio and strength training all in one 30 min. shot. The ladies at Curves are so need and friendly. I love working at Curves.

Now if you are strapped for cash and have small children, don’t think their is nothing for you…. Wrong!!! Zumba has come out with a Zumba Fitness game for the Wii, XBox and PS3. It is super fun and easy to use. Plug it in and start dancing right in your own living room. You can even get your kids involved. Its fun for the whole family. Teach your kids at a young age that exercise doesn’t have to be work, it can be fun. Any type of movement is exercise. If you find something you love, you will stick with it because its fun. Make exercise fun! Make it part of your day! Its that easy!!! Be Happy, Be Healthy!!!
